How the Fleetbase console navigation works — the top navbar, extension menu, sidebar, and user controls.

Navigation

The Fleetbase Console uses a two-part navigation structure: a top navigation bar and a contextual sidebar. Together they give quick access to every installed extension and the console's built-in features.

Top Navigation Bar

The top bar is always visible. From left to right it contains:

Clicking the Fleetbase logo returns you to the home dashboard from anywhere in the console.

The collapse/expand button next to the logo hides or shows the sidebar. The sidebar can also be resized by dragging the gutter on its right edge.

Extension Navigation Menu

Installed extensions register themselves as items in the navigation menu. The menu uses a Priority+ overflow pattern — up to 5 extensions are shown inline. If more are installed, a More (⋯) button collects the rest into a dropdown.

Customising the Navigation

Click the sliders icon (visible when extensions are registered) to open the navigation customiser panel.

You can pin up to the maximum visible limit (default 5). Preferences are saved per user and persist across sessions.

Right Side Controls

The right side of the header contains, left to right:

ControlDescription
Globe iconLanguage / locale selector — see Internationalization
Inbox iconNotification tray — see Notifications
Message iconChat tray — see Chat
Org badgeShows your current organization name. Click to switch organization or access organization settings
User avatarOpens the user menu — links to Your profile, Auth, Organizations, and Sign out

The sidebar is contextual — its contents change based on which section of the console is active. Each extension registers its own sidebar links via the Ember Wormhole pattern, so links for FleetOps appear only when FleetOps is active, links for the IAM section appear when IAM is active, and so on.

Common sidebar patterns:

  • Single items — a direct link to a route (e.g. Orders, Drivers, Vehicles)
  • Panels — collapsible groups of related links (e.g. IAM with Users, Roles, Policies, Groups, Organizations)

The sidebar is resizable. Drag the right-edge gutter to adjust its width.

User Menu

Click your avatar in the top-right corner to open the user menu. From here you can:

  • Navigate to Your profile (name, photo, phone, country)
  • Navigate to the Auth tab (password change, 2FA settings)
  • View and manage your Organizations
  • Sign out

Mobile

On mobile viewports the top navbar adapts to a compact layout. The locale selector, notification tray, and chat tray switch to full-width dropdowns anchored to the top of the screen. The extension navigation menu is hidden on mobile.
