Balance Sheet

View your organization's financial position — assets, liabilities, and equity at a specific point in time.

Balance Sheet

The Balance Sheet is a snapshot of your organization's financial position at a specific date. It answers the question: what does your organization own (assets) and what does it owe (liabilities and equity)?

Navigate to Ledger → Reports → Balance Sheet.

The Accounting Equation

A balance sheet always satisfies:

Assets = Liabilities + Equity

If your books are in balance, total assets will equal total liabilities plus equity. The report shows a Balanced indicator — green when the equation holds, red when it doesn't.

Report Structure

Assets

All asset accounts from your chart of accounts. Default seeded assets:

  • Cash (CASH-DEFAULT)
  • Bank Account (BANK-DEFAULT)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR-DEFAULT)
  • Stripe Clearing Account (STRIPE-CLEARING)
  • Payment Gateway Clearing (GATEWAY-CLEARING)
  • Prepaid Expenses (PREPAID-DEFAULT)

Total Assets

Liabilities

All liability accounts:

  • Accounts Payable (AP-DEFAULT)
  • Wallet Liability Pool (WALLET-POOL) plus per-wallet WALLET-{uuid} accounts
  • Driver Earnings Payable (DRIVER-PAYABLE)
  • Customer Credit Liability (CUSTOMER-CREDIT)
  • Tax Payable (TAX-PAYABLE)
  • Stripe Fees Payable (STRIPE-FEES-PAYABLE)
  • Deferred Revenue (DEFERRED-REVENUE)

Total Liabilities

Equity

All equity accounts. Default seeded equity:

  • Owner's Equity (EQUITY-DEFAULT)
  • Retained Earnings (RETAINED-EARNINGS)

Net income for the current period is reflected in the income statement, not as a discrete equity account.

Total Equity

Verification

The report also shows the combined total of liabilities and equity for direct comparison:

Total Assets = Total Liabilities + Total Equity

If these do not match, there is an accounting error — missing journal entries or an unbalanced entry.

Setting the Report Date

Navigate to Ledger → Reports → Balance Sheet.

Set the As of Date — the balance sheet reflects account balances at end of that date.

Click Generate.

The default is today.

What Wallet Liabilities Mean

The Wallet Liability Pool plus the auto-created per-wallet liability accounts (WALLET-{wallet_uuid}) represent the total balance owed to all wallet holders. They increase when wallets are credited and decrease when payouts are made. On the balance sheet, this appears as a liability — your organization owes this amount to its wallet holders.
