Warehouse Management
Define and manage your warehouse structure — from the building down to individual bin locations.
Warehouse Management
In Pallet, a Warehouse is the foundational entity for managing physical inventory.
A Warehouse represents a physical building or facility where goods are stored, picked, packed, and shipped.
Warehouse Structure
Pallet uses a hierarchical structure to define exactly where an item is located within a Warehouse. This structure is essential for efficient picking and inventory auditing.
The hierarchy is as follows:
- Warehouse: The physical building (e.g., "Main Distribution Center").
- Zone: A specific area within the warehouse (e.g., "Cold Storage", "Receiving Dock").
- Aisle: A row of shelving within a Zone (e.g., "Aisle 4").
- Rack: A specific shelving unit within an Aisle (e.g., "Rack B").
- Bin: The smallest unit of storage, representing a specific shelf or container on a Rack (e.g., "Bin 12").
When an item is received into inventory, it is assigned to a specific Bin. When a picker is fulfilling an order, Pallet directs them to the exact Zone, Aisle, Rack, and Bin to find the item.
Creating a Warehouse
To create a new Warehouse:
- Navigate to Pallet > Warehouses in the Fleetbase Console.
- Click the New Warehouse button.
- Provide the basic details:
- Name: A descriptive name for the facility.
- Address: The physical location of the building.
- Contact Info: The phone number or email for the warehouse manager.
- Click Save.
Once the Warehouse is created, you can begin defining its internal structure by adding Zones, Aisles, Racks, and Bins.
Multi-Warehouse Operations
Pallet supports managing multiple Warehouses within a single Organization.
This allows you to track inventory across a distributed network of facilities. When an order is placed, you can determine which Warehouse has the necessary stock and route the fulfillment request accordingly.
